The Body Corporate is an independent information resource on strata living in Australia: body corporates, owners corporations and strata schemes, and the committees, levies, by-laws, maintenance, renting and disputes that come with them.

Most of what is published on the subject is either legislation, marketing from strata managers, or forum posts from people mid-dispute. This site sits in the gap: what the rules require, what actually happens, and what works in practice.

Every state and territory runs its own Act, its own tribunal and its own terminology, so every guide is written for a named state and says so at the top. Thestate comparison shows where they part ways. Queensland coverage is the deepest to date; the other states are being built out to the same standard.

The site is not affiliated with any strata management company, developer, industry body or government agency. Guides are checked against the legislation they describe and updated when it changes; each one carries the date it was last reviewed.
